Great job. I would recommend next -carving Corinthian Acanthus. https://schoolofwoodcarving.io/courses/carving-corinthian-acanthus/

That was a fun project. I really like your design a lot more than the traditional leaves people have been carving for 2000 years plus.

I reviewed Your photos, and I can tell. You are doing a Great job!

I took the completed cutting board to the local carving group part of Northeastern Woodworkers Association and 4 people wanted to carve cutting boards of their own. My wife actually got a piece of basswood and started on her own cutting board. I would like to see more of these type projects. Our club mostly uses knives on projects and dockyard gouges for details.

I got your email with a award You got. I hope you don’t mind if I will share those pictures here.
Award
.

Finally finished. The stain turned out well, but maybe I cooked the walnuts too long. Happy for the experience and a completion!

Great job!

Very interesting and informative project.

The main difficulty for me was the volutes, especially when they are small or very curved.
The knife blade is sometimes a little too wide to turn properly and, from what I understood, that’s why we compensate with a shallow depth.
But after doing a few we know the limit between what we can do and what we cannot do (and gouge and stain help to hide mistakes :-))

Could you explain the grain and direction of cut problem more precisely? it’s not very clear to me.

You did a Great job!

Greta project, I watched most of the teaching videos before starting, you showed some great techniques later in the videos so it really helped me move thru the piece with more understanding.
Really love the short teaching videos, they kept me moving forward .

I sent my picture in Feb 23rd 2021 for review, please let me know if you received it.
Looking forward to next step in this class.

Hi Alex, uploaded my carving. It is slightly smaller (8×10) and I used some aniline dye dissolved in water that I had. Nice project for working with knife. Thanks!

Just brilliant, iv learnt so much just from the 2 projects🤩.(this and the butterfly plate)👍
When you said curly bird, i had this image of a peacock!.. so I tried to change the project accordingly.
Maybe you hav a few Tipps based on what you’ve seen from me.
