Just a newbie question…. can you carve this style using this knife on harder wood..? maybe teak or poplar…?

Alexander Grabovetskiy (Administrator) December 4, 2020 at 8:15 am

Teak is ok for a knife carving. Poplar is also ok. But normally woodcarvers prefer to carve basswood, walnut, butternut. Sometimes You could do some poplar carving but I rarely like it unless it is some kind of architectural molding carving.

Thanks sir, there are so many teak in Malaysia but butternut and wallnut is rare because these species can’t live in tropical climate
