Hi Alex, I know what you mean about not pressing the tool against the wood. I do that all too frequently and have to repair any dents I accidentally create. I’m having a difficult time trying to find back bent tools which help avoid this problem to a certain degree. They seem to be forever on back order.

Beth, look for antique backbents on eBay. Set filters and notifications. eBay will email you when new “Backbent” listings are available. I have multiple filters and receive notifications every day for the tools I am looking for. There is a lot of junk, but sometimes I am able to find a very great tool.
