Hi Alex, the board I use was a little larger then the one you used so I made my own design similar to yours.

I am enjoying your classes. I wish I had watched the curly bird project before completing the first two assignments. As I look back on them, I did way to much ‘touching up’ and did not get the straight clean lines you demonstrated in the curly bird project. I have an artist friend who says ” Make the stroke and walk away!” How do you break the habit of over working a piece?
It’s me again. When I was working on the third assignment I cut through the board in the bottoms of the deeper cuts. How thick is the board supposed to be? I was using a scrap I found in the shop and I think it was too thin or I got carried away with the carving. (This project was the one that looked like a pencil box cover) I am planning to try this project again before I upload the assignment.
I just uploaded the box lid assignment. Really enjoyed the process!

Hi, I am Vyomini Thakur, I joined your course yesterday by goodmanswood (SANDEEP THAKUR), I am India, student 12 Standard from India, unable to find Balsa wood as described by you, at Amazon, it’s very very expensive as its being imported in India. Please suggest any other wood that is soft and can be hand-carved and easily available in Delhi, India.

Thank You for joining. As far as I know Sheeshan wood is good for carving. It grows in north India.
It is also known as Shisham wood -Dalbergia sissoo, known commonly as North Indian rosewood, is a fast-growing, hardy deciduous rosewood tree native to the Indian Subcontinent
I didn’t have a big enough piece so I did it at 1/3 Scale. The piece I used was 2-3/4 inches by 6-1/2. It was difficult to do on such a small scale but I think it turned out fairly well

Hello Alexander; I have uploaded by second sample, now that I understand how to upload I will go back if i can and upload the first. this sample is was a great learning experience, of course the sample clears shows my the mistakes form which my learning came, especially my poor design. that said, I’m pressing on, thanks to your excellent videos.

The project was excellent practice and definitely helped with learning how to handle larger chips and movements with the knife. I just uploaded and enjoyed the project.
