hi I’m just going to start out wood carving I’m a level 1 carpenter and fermiler with wood but i was only 17 at time I’m now 34 and i would like to no if you could help me ? what tools to get and how do i get good wood from to carlv? i love the work of art you do and carnt wait to get started

I am find your online instruction extremely interesting and my attention is fixed on your technique of carving. I feel like I am getting to know you as person as you share your life story with us. I will have more questions as time goes by. Still, I hope I can meet you in person. Your strong faith in God and being willing to do what is necessary to remain faithful to our Creator moves me to respect you greatly. I am a 73 year old who took up carving a couple of years ago and has “Hit The Wall” in a number of ways. The most problematic is a failure to master sharpening which when coupled with poor eyesight and a total lack of artistic ability is a recipe for disaster. I do however love carving but from the point of view of a design plagiarist rather than as a designer. I wish to develop all my skills through studying and learning at the feet of your course.

Your history provides a fair look at how you came to be where you are now. I doubt that I would have survived the various ordeals you have been forced to live through. I am happy that you found a pathway to God.during your ordeals AND that God and Jesus gave you the strength and wherewithal to persevere through your trials. Your story is an uplifting tale to be sure. Congratulations on making it through!
Thank you for sharing in your own personal glorifying trials. Your life history makes my tribulations with life seem like nothing other than the fact that I have lost both legs while attempting to follow the path that doctors have given to me. I must admit to a.huge amount of personal failure in my life and in no way may I compare my life with yours.

What little I’ve seen of your work is simply spectacular! It reminds me of Grinling Gibbons who is my hero; you and he are so talented. I only hope that I can produce some work that will up my carving skills tremendously. I have been carving for approx. 20 years, but only with palm gouges (Flex-Cut & a few assorted others). At the present time I am trying to improve by using Pfeil Swiss made gouges. People tell me that I can’t carve because I have Parkston’s Disease & an Essential Tremor but I don’t listen to them and just keep on carving. My specialty is floral and Southwestern, which have brought me several ribbons Blue ones to show my critics how wrong they are. So much of my babbling, I’m very excited to get started with your school! I only hope I can keep up with your pace. Thank yo so much for offering such fine school!!!! Charles Bunch
Charles, I am just a lowly student here myself Nad have less than a weeks total time spent carving the first two lessons by Alexander. I have watched hundreds of videos by Alexander Graboveskiy and I can tell you that yes, Alexander is very skilled and also fairly humble. Being so new to carving, I have watched lessons by several different truly skilled carvers and Alexander seems to be the best of those.thay.are currently available. I like his style of teaching and encouragement for his students. He offers physical 1 on 1 courses as well as the.classes that he offers directly from his school. Join.up if you can afford to do so and I am positive that you will not be disappointed! Maybe someday down the road we might run into each other at one of his classes. I sure hope to be able to get direct instruction from him myself, maybe this year if I can save enoigh cash to be able to do it!
20 years of carving under your belt may make some of Alexander’s classes seem to be elementary but I would be willing to bet that you will.still.gain from working with Alex. Look forward to catching you online during the weekly live chats if you get the chance to join the private live sessions.

Hello, I am a 62 year old, retired US Marshal. I’ve been carving as a hobby for about 35 years now. I started out whittling, moved on to chip carving, then took lessons with Nora Hall when she was in the Denver area. She gave me the enjoyment of achetectural carving. Now I find I need for inspiration to go from project to project. I am hoping to find that here.
