A quick question on the dining table apron workshop 11 about 14 min. 30 sec in you had just made a rotating cut around a petal then brought in the V chisel. You didn’t do that on any of the other petals so my question is: was the fact that you had already scooped out the petal next to the circular cut you made a technique to prevent chipping off the top edge of the petal when you passed by with the V chisel. In other words, did you score the surface before the V tool?

Dan, great question. No, I did not score.
If You watch the direction of a grain usually there is no problem with chipping off the top edge of the petal. But the Idea of scoring is really good.
