Hi Alex. I hope to carve this beautiful piece. If I cannot find an oval piece of wood with routered edges, I may just scroll saw the pattern out. Do you think I should use two levels, perhaps 1” for the background leaves, and 1 1/2” for the flowers (I realize you used 1 7/8”). I wonder if one of the Basswood suppliers such as Randy Moore would be able to make the oval for me. Can you tell me, what the width measurement is …. 12” x ? Cheryl, you can laminate two pieces together and scroll the oval. I the beginning of this course I am explaining how to draw an oval by hand without special tools. As far as routing, you could carve the profile. It will be even more unique. I don’t know about Randy, if he could do it for you.
