i have the cbn and diamond disks for my worksharp…i find the diamond disks are a little faster but both do the job just fine…but the price of the diamond disk makes them the winner in my mind.
Absolutely. I paid for my cbn discs around $300 and those diamond discs only $13.
Here is a link to those discs https://schoolofwoodcarving.com/ddisc
Hi, Alex looks like link is not working

I built my own worksharp using a variable speed reversible industrial sewing machine motor. I will bring it to the June class in Maine.

Is there a search option, to quickly look up information provided?
Cristine,
Are you asking website search option?
Diamond Disc on Amazon – https://schoolofwoodcarving.com/ddisc
If you buy some 1/2″ arbors on amazon you can use these on your drill press and lathe (I suggest using the lowest speed). I basically turned my drill press into an upside down Worksharp and it never gets the tool hot.
I also mounted my lathe tool rest on my drill press table and can adjust it to whatever angle I need for sharpening. Basically I use the Ferrel on the gouge as a stop against the tool rest bar and it works very well. If anyone needs a pic I’d be happy to send one along.
Guy, that’s a clever setup you’ve got there! I love how resourceful you’ve been with the drill press and lathe!!! Send over a pic when you can – I’d love to see it in action. Great job keeping the tools cool while sharpening!
Alex,
Thank you and your student for sharing this information. I use them on my Worksharp with the Tormek auxillary bar and I have to say I am so pleased with the results.
I can sharpen tools in minutes and compared to doing it by hand there is no comparison. You can save so much time with this system and keep the focus on design and wood carving instead of sharpening.
Great site and I love the design part in the projects. Nice to see someone using geometry in design. I think you can unfortunately find it in a very few schools anymore. Fortunately there are some good older books to learn from.
Thanks again.
