Hi Alex. Nice project. Thanks. What type of wood glue do you use? and how long do you let it set for? Does the joined wood stay strong without clamping? Thanks

I decided to take a break from watching the venice room and switched to this. I should have watched this series a long time ago. I need help with my flower carvings. Exactly what i need. Thank you Alex. This is a beautiful design.

Good Morning Master:
I’m having a rough time figuring out how to know which pieces to cut next to the high point next to the basket grid on the right side of the design. It’s not clear to me where that tiny piece of wood goes. My drawing is really blurred and don’t see the lines clearly.
Any help. All of the other pieces that need to be glued for the second and third layer are fine–it just that one place.
Thanks,
Looking forwards to getting started.

Hey : Thanks, I went ahead several workshops and saw how the small piece was situated. Thwere piece in the video is a little different from the pattern inthat there are 5 openings in the basket in the video and only three in the pattern. Don’t really matter much in the carving (just fewer holes to scroll out).

Good Morning Alex:
My plank is 1.25″ now. Should I go ahead and plane it down to around 7/8″? I do have a 12″ planner. Thanks.

Hello , Roy! It’s always a joy to chat with fellow woodcarvers.

You mentioned that your plank is currently 1.25″ thick, and you’re wondering whether you should plane it down to 7/8″. My question to you is, why mess with a good thing?

Your plank is already a good thickness , and that means you’ve got plenty of material to work with. Plus, thicker wood can give your project a more substantial feel.

So my advice to you is this: embrace the thickness! Don’t worry about planing it down, and instead, let your creativity flow. Who knows, you might even come up with a new design that takes advantage of the extra thickness.

In short, my friend, let’s not thin down your plank. Let’s keep it thick, strong, and full of possibilities. Happy carving!
