I carved the acanthus leaf and found it very difficult to make smooth clean cuts on the edge of the leaves. Of course I don’t have the selection of gouges necessary. Woodcraft is going to be very happy to sell me new gouges for each project.

You have a talent! Great job!

Sorry I could only upload one image at a time and it won’t let me send the other two. I did my project out of alder wood because that’s what I have available during the state shutdown

I really enjoyed this project, however it has highlighted the fact I need more tools and better timber! Can’t wait to start the Greek Acanthus 😁. I will redo this project until I’m happy with the results To include the original recommendation of Lime timber. Once again thanks for the coarse, really enjoying it.👍

Great! I am Glad You like it!

I’m afraid I’m having difficulty figuring out how to upload more than one picture.

First time carving a full project. There are a ton of things I want to improve but I was happy with my first project. Your lessons were pivotal. I’m excited to improve on the next one. Thanks

Great job!

One more great course done, my results are not as good as I would like but will try to repeat after doing other courses. Hopefully will learn to make more smooth leaves.

Great job!

My first acanthus leaf. I only had a small 15cmx10cm size basswood piece, so it was challenging at times because of tools limited tools, but extremely enjoyable project and great teaching!

Thank You

Really, really enjoying your courses! You are a true master! I’m going to try to incorporate each style of leaf into a series of upright bass scrolls, not quite the assignment, but if I’m going to be using the time at the bench I need to be able to pay for it. I must say you are an inspiration, your videos have a great flow and structure and you get at the true meaning and method of the art. I have to use maple, I wish lime was strong enough for the string tension, looks like a dream to carve! Thank you so much for making these videos, I’m so excited to learn how to carve all this stuff. Please let me know if you are ever in Austin, TX!

Thank You! I will be teaching in Austin in a week from now!

Dear Alexander,
Thank you Master for next lesson. Beautiful and not easy. Most difficult for me was backgroud, without destroying leafs.

Great job!

Hi Alex! Are we going to stain this leaf or just leave it as is? Thanks!

Alexander Grabovetskiy (Administrator) August 14, 2022 at 9:13 am

Up to your liking. You can leave it as is.

I just uploaded my picture. I am not sure if we are to finish it with the stain you taught us how to make. I left it bare. BTW, I had so much fun doing it. I also had so many mistakes which I did my best to recover. I am realizing that we need more tools to get a better and cleaner finish. Thank you very much. On with the next…

Alexander Grabovetskiy (Administrator) August 14, 2022 at 9:12 am

Great job! You don’t have to apply any finish on it.

Hi Alex, I spent a few attempts trying to take a good photo📸, to make sure the pipes and gauge lines were visible.😆
Pipes/eyes truly are beautiful details.
Thankyou for this lesson.👌
