In this video, you asked for comments about the use of rasp rifflers. Originally, I felt the same as you did. Upon reflection, I realized that my bias was due to my reluctance to use sandpaper while still carving with blades (gouges, v-tools, etc.). The embedded abrasive material sandpaper leaves behind which will dull the blades. That bias carried over to rasps. I decided that if the abrasive rasps were bothering me I could switch to file rifflers. Those rifflers are essentially many small blades. My file rifflers are smaller than my rasp rifflers but since I only use them on smoothing transitions between cuts their size is not a problem.

I still feel guilty!

Sandpaper and all abrasives are simply tools to be added to your arsenal. I embrace them all!! I love sandpaper. Love my rifflers too.
